Waarskynlik afkomstig uit Champagne, Frankryk. Reeds 1688 aan die Kaap. In 1691 is die plaas Sion (tans Nieuwe Hoop) by Simondium aan hom toegeken.
Probably from Champagne, France. Already at the Cape in 1688. In 1691 the farm Sion (currently Nieuwe Hoop) in Simonstown allotted to him.

Daniel married Anna ROUSSEAU, daughter of Pierre ROUSSEAU and Anne RETIEF, omstreeks Januarie 1705. (Anna ROUSSEAU was born on 8 Jul 1691 and died voor 1752.)
